Trefoil Presentation Ceremony When: Most appropriate time - on or near World Thinking Day, February 22nd. It could also be done on Juliette Low's Birthday, during Girl Scout Week, or at an lnvestiture/Rededication Ceremony. Supplies: 1. World Trefoil Pin(s) 2. World Association symbol cut into sections to create a puzzle. Back each piece with rolled tape so it will stick in place. 3. World Association flag - if available. 4. large piece of poster board on which to mount puzzle pieces LEADER: Today you are receiving your World Trefoil Pin. As a member of Girl Scouts USA, you are also a part of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. There are over 8 million girls around the world who wear this same pin. The pin represents a sisterhood that spreads around the globe. #1 GS: I place the blue field that represents the blue sky that is over us all. (place piece) #2 GS: The gold band symbolizes the sun that shines over all lands. (place piece) #3 GS: The word trefoil means three leaves. These three leaves stand for the three parts of the Promises said throughout the world. (place piece) #4 GS: The first star is for the Promise of the Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. (place piece) #5 GS: The second star stands for the Law by which girls all over the world live. (place piece) #6 GS: This piece is the vein. It symbolizes the compass needle that points the way to better Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting. (place piece) #7 GS: The base of the trefoil is a flame. It is the flame of sisterhood that burns in the heart of every Girl Guide and Girl Scout. (place piece) LEADER: As you receive this pin, remember your responsibility to all the Girl Guides and Girl Scouts who wear the same symbol. You must be the best Girl Scout you can so that they will all be proud to have you as their sister. (attach pin, give Girl Scout handshake) We will close this ceremony by singing "It's a Small World" (or other appropriate song) Note: Ceremony can be preceded by a flag ceremony. Combine it with a collection for the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund. (The World Trefoil Pin is worn above the membership pin. It can be worn when not in uniform.) |
